How to Apply

Ready to jump into graduate work in communication studies? Follow these steps to be admitted into Ball State's Graduate School and the Department of Communication Studies.

Minimum Requirements

Ball State’s Graduate School requires that you have either a 2.75 overall undergraduate grade point average or a 3.0 GPA in the last half of your undergraduate work.

If your undergraduate work doesn’t meet this standard, it’s still possible to be admitted on a probationary basis if the department supports your petition. To qualify for probationary admission, you must have at least a 2.5 overall undergraduate GPA and have scored at the 35th percentile or higher on both the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE.

Once admitted, you’ll have to earn at least a B in each course in a 9-credit program of study as determined by the director of graduate studies. That will allow you to move from probationary admission to full admission status.
