If you are pursuing graduate work in the Department of Communication Studies, you may qualify for generous assistance with your expenses in the form of scholarships and graduate assistantships.
Among scholarship possibilities is the Richard G. Nitcavic Graduate Scholarship program, established in 2005 by a dedicated faculty member and former department chair to honor academic excellence.
Graduate assistantships provide an excellent opportunity for earning financial assistance and valuable experience. Full assistantships provide 12-month waivers of tuition along with a stipend and require 20 hours of service each week.
Graduate assistants supervise discussion sections of the basic public speaking course, may assist with the Debate and Speech Teams or help faculty members with their continuing research. Those working toward a master’s degree will typically carry their own 9-credit class load.
