You begin your day by saying “Good morning,” and until you drop your head on the pillow, you’re communicating. As pervasive as communication is in "the Information Age," gaining a better understanding of communication can bring more success to your career and more satisfaction to your life. The leaders of tomorrow will know how to communicate well.

That’s what communication studies is all about: mastering skills in public speaking, listening, interviewing, group decision making, leadership, and interpersonal communication.

Those pursuing communication studies may choose from programs in public, interpersonal, and organizational communication—studies that can lead to a wide range of careers from business and marketing, to government and public affairs, to corporate communications and the media. A communication studies major also can lay a foundation for further graduate studies.

At Ball State, our communication studies department is part of one of the largest undergraduate communication colleges in the country—the College of Communication, Information, and Media, also home to our journalism and telecommunications departments as well as the Center for Information and Communication Sciences. We're in the technologically advanced David Letterman Communication and Media Building, which sits on a vibrant campus in Muncie, Indiana. In addition to great instruction by our distinguished faculty, you'll have opportunities to learn outside the classroom.
