Admission Requirements and How to Apply
Admissions Criteria
To be admitted to the master of arts in applied behavior analysis (ABA) program, you must meet the following requirements of the Ball State Graduate School:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a college or university that is accredited by its regional accrediting association.
- Have ONE of the following:
A. An undergraduate cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
B. A cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the latter half of your bachelor’s degree program
C. An acceptable score (45th percentile) on the Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
If you do not have the required GPA, you may be admitted on probationary status with an acceptable GRE score. In this circumstance, you will be required to earn a minimum 3.0 grade-point average in 9 semester hours of graduate work approved by the chairperson. NOTE: The GRE is not required when you have an acceptable GPA per A or B above.
How to Apply
Fill out the online application from the Ball State Graduate School. NOTE: We do not require letters of recommendation or any separate application materials for the master’s in ABA.
Application Deadlines
The ABA master's degree program has three application deadlines:
- April 15 for summer semester
- July 15 for fall semester
- November 15 for spring semester
You may also begin the program mid-semester by enrolling in an 8-week course beginning the second half of the semester. Summer semester courses are available. All autism and ABA courses are offered every semester, offering you tremendous flexibility in scheduling courses around your busy life.
Transfer Credits
You may transfer up to 9 graduate credit hours to the ABA master’s degree. Since this program requires a specific set of courses, transfer credits will only be accepted from other programs that have approved courses from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
