Requirements for the Health Economics Concentration

The nine-hour MBA concentration in health economics, policy, and administration will give you the analytical skills and policy perspectives to navigate the health industry as it responds to ongoing governmental and market influences. You will learn to analyze the benefits and costs of different methods of healthcare delivery and financing from all viewpoints—patients, providers, and manufacturers. 

This specialized credential is especially helpful for those who need to stay on top of the business of health, such as physicians, hospitalists, nurses, healthcare administrators, medical product manufacturers, wellness specialists, and professionals in insurance, pharmaceuticals, long-term care, ambulatory care, public health, and more.

You will need to take these courses:

• ECON 683 Health Economic Analysis (3 credit hours)
• ECON 693 Health Economics and Policy (3 credit hours)

And, choose one of the following courses:

• BL 665 Law, Ethics, and Public Policy in Business (3 credit hours)
• MBA 661 Managerial Finance (3 credit hours)
• RMI 570 Risk Management and Insurance (3 credit hours)
