Degree Completion Program: Bachelor of General Studies

Quality instruction. Personal attention. A degree with weight.

Tony Upchurch
For adult learner Tony Upchurch, the desire to teach high school history put him back on a degree completion track.

Ball State's bachelor of general studies (BGS) degree is unequaled if you want a well-rounded college degree or wish to complete a degree you have already started.

You can tailor your studies to your specific interests, plus prepare yourself for the rigors of a career that demands broad knowledge and in-depth skills.

If you started your degree at another accredited college or university, all or most of those credits can likely be transferred. Plus, if you have served in the military, that experience may translate into some transfer credits.

Affordability and Quality
What will make your Ball State bachelor's degree stand out from the rest is that it is coming from a competitively priced program from a well-respected, accredited university with many national rankings and recognitions. For instance, we were named one of the best universities in the Midwest for six consecutive years by The Princeton Review and were one of only 15 percent of universities named a Military Friendly School by GI Jobs.

Our program costs the same for all students, no matter which state you are from. We encourage you to compare our tuition rates with other universities.

Mode of Delivery
Our BGS offers you flexibility like few other online bachelor's degree programs. You will earn your degree entirely through our online Independent Learning Program where classes are offered in a10-week format.

Plus, you don’t have to wait for a semester to start. You can start anytime during the year.

Our courses are asynchronous—meaning you do not have to log in to class on particular times or days of the week. Instead, you work at the times most convenient to you.
