In conjunction with The New York Times Knowledge Network, Ball State University offers emerging media journalism courses, including a certificate program, all designed to help working journalists and other professionals learn to use new technologies and to deliver compelling stories across a variety of media platforms. The program can also supplement the educational experience of journalism and mass media students at other colleges and universities that do not have emerging media programs.

Our courses can lead to an emerging media journalism certificate, or you can simply pick and choose the courses that best fit your needs. The asynchronous delivery ensures that you can fit your studies into your schedule, since there is no scheduled time to meet each week.

Interaction with New York Times Journalists
Our all-online program is offered collaboratively by Ball State’s journalism and telecommunications programs, each of which have a long-established tradition and reputation for academic excellence.  Plus, you will be interacting with journalists from The New York Times—specifically its multimedia reporters, videographers, and editors who serve as guest presenters.

Ball State and Emerging Media Excellence
The programs are part of Ball State’s College of Communication, Information, and Media (CCIM), the seventh largest college of communication in the United States. CCIM is known for its evolving use of technology and digital content as well as the quality of its faculty, students, and programs, including its on-campus emerging media undergraduate curriculum.

All of this from a university whose leadership in emerging media and immersive learning experiences has earned Ball State a place as one of the top innovators in the nation.

Faculty
The courses will be taught by faculty with many years of real-world media experience as well as teaching know-how. Learn more about them.
