Admissions and Registration

How to Apply
There are five steps you need to complete before being admitted to our College Transition Program.

  1. Check to see if you meet the requirements for the program.

  2. Complete the online application in order to apply to Ball State as a "Current High School Special" status student. No high school transcripts are required for participation.

You will be asked for your Social Security number (SSN) to facilitate the processing of your application. If you are applying for financial aid, federal law requires that we obtain your SSN to process your application. If you are not applying for financial aid, you may choose not to provide your SSN, and you will not be penalized for doing so. However, this may result in delays in matching relevant information such as standardized test scores, with your application. All applicants will be assigned a Ball State ID number. This number will serve as your identification number at the university; your SSN is not used for identification purposes.

  3. Pay a $50 application fee. You can pay online or mail in a check. The fee is waived for students who receive free or reduced-price lunch.

  4. Review and fill out the student information release authorization. This is a federal requirement to be in compliance with the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.

  5. Fill out and mail to us the permission form. This will need to be signed by you, your parents and your high school principal or guidance counselor. We cannot accept e-mail or fax copies of these forms.

  6. After you are accepted into the program, you can register for courses.

Through this process, you are able to take College Transition Program courses. However, before you can take any additional courses on campus, you must complete Ball State's separate undergraduate on-campus admission process.

In the future, if you apply to Ball State for your bachelor's degree, please let the Admissions Office know you attended Ball State taking dual credit classes in high school.
