Our master’s and doctoral programs help students develop skills in research, analysis, writing, and critical and creative thinking. Our seven master’s programs include general English, Rhetoric and Composition, Creative Writing, Literature, LinguisticsTeaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), or a degree combining Linguistics and TESOL. Our doctoral program offers three options: Applied Linguistics, Rhetoric and Composition, and Literature.

We also offer an add-on license in English as a New Language (online program) and a Certificate Program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (courses can be taken either online or on campus), and a Certificate Program in Teaching Writing.

Because we have an award-winning, actively publishing and professionally engaged graduate faculty in our program, we’re able to keep classes small and provide our students with a rigorous and personal learning environment. We are able to support most of our admitted students with competitive teaching assistantships in our nationally recognized teacher-training program or through our close association with the Intensive English Institute.
