Our undergraduate degree programs in English include five options: creative writing, English studies, literature, rhetoric and writing, and teaching. Your education will prepare you for a variety of careers such as law, medicine, writing, education, politics, religion, and business. If you're already decided on a major, consider one of our four minors.
Our master’s and doctoral programs help students develop a focus on research, analysis, and critical thinking. In our master's program, you can pursue general English, rhetoric and composition, creative writing, literature, linguistics, teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL), or a degree combining linguistics and TESOL. Our doctoral program offers three options: applied linguistics, rhetoric and composition, and literature.
On both the undergraduate and graduate level, we broaden the traditional scope of English study with opportunities to work in the local and global communities.
