The English master’s degree in creative writing is flexible, encouraging cross-genre study with graduate workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as graduate literature seminars. This program is relatively young—founded in 2001—but growing with recent expansions into screenwriting.
In addition to in-class experiences, our students have the opportunity to present their work and to meet and learn from
visiting writers, including those participating Ball State’s
Festival of First Books.
At the graduate level, we offer an innovative and flexible two-year course of study toward the master’s in English (creative writing), as well as the option of a 15-hour creative writing cognate for those seeking a PhD within the Department of English.
