My areas of interest and expertise are focused around creative writing (screenwriting, poetry, fiction, and digital/electronic literature). Currently, I teach the English Department's undergraduate and graduate screenwriting courses, though I look forward to teaching courses in the other genres as opportunities present themselves. My collection of short stories, Three Ways of the Saw, is forthcoming from Atticus Books in early 2012. I have published fiction and poetry in a variety of print and online literary journals including Pleiades, Hunger Mountain, Harpur Palate, Descant, Hobart, decomP, The San Pedro River Review, and The Birmingham Poetry Review. I am also currently working on a number of full-length screenplays.

In addition to my writing and teaching, I am an Emerging Media Fellow at the Center for Media Design where I'm pursuing my interest in digital/electronic literature by developing a number of literary interfaces that allow users to experience my writing in multimedia environments that combine text, sound, film, and user interactivity. I'm also involved in two ongoing film-related Immersive Learning Programs: I am a Co-Producer of the annual Cinema Entertainment Immersion, a program for which my screenwriting students supply the screenplays, and I am an Executive Producer in charge of story development for the Telecommunication Department's annual Summer HD Movie Immersion Program.
