I am the current Director of Creative Writing at Ball State, and the coordinator of our Visiting Writers Series. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in creative writing, including poetry writing and literary editing. Students in my Practicum in Literary Editing (a year-long, immersive learning course) serve as editors of The Broken Plate, a nationally-distributed literary magazine, which features the work of Ball State students alongside that of established and emerging writers from around the world. My own poetry and fiction has appeared in numerous magazines and journals, including Indiana Review, Barrow Street, North American Review, and Boulevard, and I am the author of Four of a Kind, winner of the 2010 Concrete Wolf chapbook contest. You can find out more about me, including links to some of my writing, at markneely.com.
