The mission of the Interior Design Program at Ball State University is to prepare undergraduate students to solve design problems for all spaces within environments built for human habitation and to individualize instruction in design process, new technologies, and human needs that defines a changing world.
The interior design program is an architecturally oriented program with emphasis on spatial design rather than surface embellishment. All aspects of space including scale, proportions, light, materials, color and texture are studied in relation to their effect on the human spirit. Students work closely in small groups with their professor on projects that develop in size and complexity through the six semesters of design studio.
