Application of field techniques to the resolution of geologic problems. Assignments include accumulation and interpretation of field observations and preparation of geologic maps, cross sections, and stratigraphic sections. Five-week summer course in the Rocky Mountains. Prerequisite: permission of department chairperson.
We will leave in May to better accommodate students from other schools. This will mean we also return in June. There still will be a lot of time for other summer activities following our trip.
Although the exact itinerary is still subject to some changes based on camp-site availabilities on the travel days (which are too early to confirm), the calendar is very close to the final plan.
We will be doing more mapping using GPS, including portable computers with ARCMAP for map plotting at night, and PDA pocket computers with ARCPAD for location and data compilation in the field during the day.
Fees will change from last year since our state and the states in which we travel will change tuition and housing fees from what we have estimated from last year. We also might pay more a higher van mileage fee due to increases in the price of gasoline. There is still no additional out-of-state fee.
You can get some idea of our activities and locations by viewing our guide on how to prepare.
