Certificate Program in College and University Teaching

Our Certificate Program in College and University Teaching is designed for graduate students, adjunct and part-time faculty members, and others who seek the skills for teaching undergraduate and graduate students. In this program you explore the relationship between teaching, research, and service responsibilities. Offered through our nationally acclaimed Teachers College, this an innovative and interdisciplinary way to prepare yourself as a postsecondary faculty member and includes online and on-campus options. Requirements include 6 credits in core courses (EDHI 609 and EDHI 610), a 3-credit teaching practicum, and 6 credits in content-specific electives. The practicum provides you with a hands-on teaching experience and a mentor. And in the electives, you can choose to pursue courses in a specific content area to enhance your knowledge. There are no prerequisites, and you cannot transfer credit from another institution. To earn your certificate you must achieve a grade point average of 3.0.
