If you’re interested in pursuing a leadership role in the area of special education as a teacher-educator, special education manager or curriculum specialist, our
doctor of education in special education program can give you the training and background you need. Our
doctoral curriculum includes one 24-hour cognate or two 15-hour cognates based upon your interests. You’ll be able to take advantage of courses in virtually every area of special education, including exceptional needs, early childhood special education, mild and intense interventions, and physical disabilities. You’ll benefit from hands-on experiences including
special teaching opportunities at the Indiana School for the Deaf, our on-campus
TEACH lab, where you can learn about computer adaptations that can help people with special needs, and you can work alongside our
excellent faculty in our
diagnostic learning center helping to evaluate and diagnose learning disabilities in children. Our program is part of our
nationally acclaimed Teachers College and is
accredited by the
National Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools as well as the Indiana Teacher Training and Licensing Commission.
