Clinical Psychology

A master of arts (MA) in clinical psychology can prepare you for doctoral studies or work in the field of mental health.

Our program, which includes a foundation in abnormal psychology, psychotherapy, and assessment, gives you excellent opportunities to work closely with our top-notch faculty. You’ll be able to collaborate with faculty whose research interests include stereotyping and prejudice, cross-cultural issues and diversity, juror decision-making, eyewitness memory, gender issues, text processing, emotion, sexuality, health, and interpersonal communication.

In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to work in settings such as Riley Hospital for Children, LaRue Carter Hospital, and the Marion VA hospital, as well as the Ball State Counseling Center, and during your second year, you’ll complete a required 400-hour internship. If your goal is to pursue doctoral studies, you’ll be prepared: since 2004, about 90 percent of our graduates who applied to doctoral programs were admitted.
