If you enjoy the challenge of integrating the needs of people with natural systems, a master’s degree in landscape architecture is for you.
Ball State’s
nationally ranked landscape architecture department blends hands-on learning, research, and practice, and prepares students to take the professional exam required to practice landscape architecture. The
program is fully accredited by the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board of the
American Society of Landscape Architects and provides students with a solid grounding to pursue a
career in this diverse field.
Our
top-notch faculty members are committed to ensuring graduates can meet today’s environmental challenges and those in the future, and they have adopted a 2010 initiative to integrate sustainability issues into the curriculum, increase ecological literacy, reduce consumption of fossil fuels, and move Ball State toward being a carbon-neutral campus.
This program, which is part of our nationally acclaimed
College of Architecture and Planning, offers three options:
- Second professional degree (39 hours) - If you have an accredited undergraduate degree in landscape architecture, this two-year program can provide you with advanced specialization.
- First professional degree (46 graduate hours, 18 undergraduate hours) – If you have a professional degree in a related environmental design and planning discipline such as architecture, interior design, urban and regional planning, etc., this option is for you.
- First professional degree (57 graduate credits, 22 undergraduate credits) - If you hold a bachelor's degree that is not a professional degree in landscape architecture or a related environmental design and planning discipline, this program can prepare you for a career in this field.
All students can take advantage of required
internships, hands-on learning with projects addressing community needs,
field-study opportunities, and community design and service projects available through the College of Architecture and Planning
Indianapolis Center and the university’s
Community Based Projects program.
