To be admitted to our master of arts program in linguistics, you’ll need to satisfy the
requirements of the Graduate School as well as meet the
English department’s criteria.
You must provide:
- a statement of purpose (750–1,000 words)
- a writing sample of scholarly or critical work
- transcripts of all college-level work
- three letters of recommendation
- scores on the Graduate Record Exam

If you’re an international student, please apply through the Rinker Center for International Programs. If English is not your native language, you’ll need to provide your TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores.
