As a doctoral student you need to fulfill a residency requirement at Ball State. The residency encourages you to concentrate on course work or research. It also gives you the opportunity to closely collaborate with faculty and students and to become familiar with the university's libraries, computing resources, specialized collections, and other unique campus facilities.

You’ll need to complete at least 15 semester hours in two consecutive semesters of graduate work beyond master’s degree to satisfy your residency requirement. Some departments require more hours so obtain a description of your program’s requirements from your department.

Overall, you’ll need to complete a minimum of 48 of the required 90 hours of graduate work at Ball State.
