Strategies for Increasing Yield for Admitted Students

Strategies for increasing yield for admitted students

Want to help as many admitted students as possible decide to pursue their graduate studies at Ball State? Here are some suggestions about how you can show them Ball State is the place for them.

  • Create a PDF template admitted students can use to create a document similar to the Grad Guide and highlight your department’s faculty and resources, graduate assistant package and information about the Muncie community and housing options.
  • Match student and faculty interests, and encourage one-on-one contact.
  • Ask current students to contact newly admitted students to talk with them about the program and why they feel they made the right choice to study at Ball State.
  • Make sure you have a visible Web page that includes a section for admitted students, a frequently asked questions page, summary of diversity initiatives and a section highlighting the success of graduates.
  • Designate a visit day – invite admitted students to tour the campus, ask questions of faculty and staff and get a feel for Ball State.
  • Attend the Graduate Student Development Conference and make the most of your opportunities there.
  • Develop relationships with other schools that might encourage students to pursue graduate studies at Ball State and send thank you notes or letters to students’ references to begin correspondence.
