John and Therese Scholarships

In honor of John E. Weakland and Therese E. Weakland, who pursue a lifelong interest in the study of history.
 

Purpose:   The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships to Ball State University students in accordance with the following preferences:

 

a.    Sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing a major within the department of history 
b.    Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale; and 
c.    First preference will be given to a female; however, if there are no eligible female candidates, the scholarship may be awarded to a male.  

Eligibility:   Eligible for undergraduate assistance are sophomore, junior or senior students who are majoring in History or Social Studies Education.  Students must have an overall GPA of at least 3.2.  First preference will be given to a female. 

 

Selection and Notification:   Decisions awarding assistance and determining the form and amount of aid are made by the Merit & Scholarships Committee of the Department of History after careful evaluation of all applications.  All applicants will be notified as soon as possible of the Committee’s decision(s).
