How hard or easy are honors classes?
- Honors classes are no harder than “regular” classes. They are probably less hard than the courses in your major.
- Honors classes are designed to incorporate different (not harder) learning experiences; they are more interactive, more student-driven and student-centered than larger classes, and your method of assessment is likely to be quite different (no “objective” tests).
- Honors classes are small and are therefore discussion-based. The professor is part of the discussion, not the fountain of wisdom.
- Honors classes do emphasize reading and writing.
- Honors classes emphasize how you think, rather than what you think.
- Expect to do a lot of work but to have fun while you learn a lot, as well.
