Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines with more than 1 million members into its ranks. Its chapters are on more than 300 campuses in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Each year, approximately 30,000 members are initiated.
Phi Kappa Phi is one of the oldest and most respected academic honor societies. The first members of Ball State's chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi were inducted in October, 2003. You may find additional information about the Society at its national website at http://www.phikappaphi.org/.
Membership is by invitation only to the top 7.5 percent of second-semester juniors and the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students. You do not need to be a Ball State University Honors College student to receive an invitation or be a member of Phi Kappa Phi. Membership is open to ALL Ball State University students and graduate students meeting Phi Kappa Phi membership requirements as listed. Because Phi Kappa Phi is highly selective, membership is a stamp of excellence that is recognized by graduate and professional school admissions committees and employers alike.
