Freshman Honors Scholarships
Students admitted to the Honors College are eligible for several scholarships sponsored by Ball State and its benefactors and awarded by the Honors College. Some scholarships require a separate application form, while others do not. For details on each scholarship, follow the links below. Please read the descriptions carefully and contact the Honors College if you have any questions.
Presidential Scholarships
In 2012, an award of $4,500 (Indiana students) or $12,000 (out of state students). This scholarship is awarded by the University Office of Admissions and is not automatic upon admission to the Honors College; most students admitted to the Honors College receive this award. Whitinger Scholars Program
The signature scholarship of the Honors College. Full tuition/fees and room and board, renewable for eight semesters. Ten scholarships awarded each year.
Honors College and Honors Distinction Scholarships
Indiana students who are freshmen in Fall 2012 receive $9,000 per year for four years at Ball State; students from outside Indiana receive $24,000 per year for four years. The amount of the scholarship will change for Fall 2013.
Dr. T. M. Anderson Scholarship
Supplements the Presidential Scholarship up to the value of full Indiana tuition for four years. One scholarship awarded each year to an Honors student majoring in History.
Deborah S. Wehman Scholarship
Supplements the Presidential Scholarship up to the value of full Indiana tuition for four years. One scholarship awarded when funds are available.
O.L. Strong Scholarship
Maximum award equivalent to the value of in-state tuition in addition to other awards each year for four years, up to the value of "Cost of Attendance." Recipient must major in Architecture, Business, Music, or Nursing. Scholarship is awarded when funds are available.
Honors College Awards of Excellence
Ranging from $1,000 or higher per year in addition to other awards received.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver K. Ho Scholarship
About $1,500 per year for four years in addition to other awards received.
