When should I start to work on a scholarship application?

  • The sooner the better! Contact the Director of National and International Scholarships as soon as you know you might be interested in competing for a scholarship, even if you won’t actually submit an application for several years.
  • Fill out a Scholarship Preparation and Interest form as soon as possible and send or deliver it to the Honors College.
  • When it’s time to apply, give yourself a minimum of six weeks – preferably two or even three months – to prepare a successful application. Some scholarships have campus deadlines that are several weeks before the national deadline.
  • Specific start dates are suggested for some of the best-known scholarships.
