About the Department of Journalism

Ball State has been providing journalism education for more than 80 years. We have grown from a few classes into a large, accredited program through our long history.

The Department of Journalism is a part of Ball State’s College of Communication, Information, and Media, one the largest communications colleges in the nation. Since 1979, we have been accredited by the international journalism accrediting body, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC). Our public relations major is certified by the Public Relations Society of America.

Our innovative approach to journalism education has earned the department significant acclaim and respect in the various industries we serve. Students, faculty, and alumni are regular recipients of academic and industry honors.
