Students and faculty in the Department of Journalism are driven to excel. We aren’t in it for the glory—but it’s sure satisfying when someone notices.
We are frequent award winners, so frequent that the list of recent awards is quite simply too long to reproduce. But here are some of the highlights:

The Ball State Daily News earns regular honors for excellence. Most recently, it won the Gold Crown award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, was named the top Division I newspaper in Indiana and the top online news product in the state by the Indiana Collegiate Press Association, and took home two Pacemaker awards and 57 Gold Circles.

Ball Bearings Web magazine earned two first place, two second place, and four third place awards from the Indiana Collegiate Press Association, plus several regional awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.

Expo magazine earned second place in the Indiana Collegiate Press Association’s best collegiate magazine award and took eight first place honors in other categories. It also earned a first-place regional honor from the Society of Professional Journalists and was second in the best student magazine awards.

For the eighth year in a row, Ball State’s
photojournalism program placed in the top 10 in the William Randolph Hearst Journalism Awards.
