As an undergraduate student, if you are interested in majoring in journalism, public relations, advertising, or teaching journalism, you begin by completing a 15-hour preprofessional program to develop skills in writing, information gathering, visual presentation, and media literacy. Once that is complete, you begin learning the specifics of your selected major. Within the journalism major you may choose one of these sequences: journalism graphics, magazine, news editorial, and photojournalism.
Our master’s degree program serves a wide range of students, with or without professional media experience or undergraduate degrees in journalism or public relations. We offer master of arts degrees in public relations or journalism with specific subject matter emphases available.
