Hands-On, Student Media Experience

There’s no such thing as a novice among Department of Journalism graduates. All emerge from Ball State having had plenty of chances to practice their craft through diverse student media opportunities.Journalism 0072

While still a student, you’ll have the opportunity to write for a daily newspaper and/or a magazine and serve in editing positions. If you prefer, you’ll have the chance to tackle publication design and create the kinds of informational graphics upon which today’s readers depend. You can learn the complexities of Web writing and design. You will be afforded the opportunity to create advertising campaigns and provide public relations services if you think that might be in your future. You can produce and edit journalistic photography, supplying it for magazine, advertising, or public relations purposes. You and your fellow students can do all of these things, hands-on, right on our campus.

Student media opportunities at Ball State include The Ball State Daily Newsexpo magazine, Ball Bearings online magazinethe student-run public relations agency Cardinal Communications, and Ball State's student chapter of the American Advertising Federation.
