Degree Requirements (33-36 credit hours)
- All classes are offered online in an asynchronous format, meaning you can log in when you wish for class participation.
- You can start your program during any of our traditional semesters in the fall, spring, or summer. If you stay on track (taking two or three courses each semester while completing your culminating research requirement), you could finish in five consecutive semesters.
- Courses for the master’s in public relations can be taken in any sequence but here’s a sample sequence:
First Semester (Fall)
- JOURN 601: Studies in Journalism and Communication Theory
- JOURN 680: Studies in Journalism and Communication Research
Second Semester (Spring)
- PR 620: Seminar in Public Relations Foundations
- PR 660: Public Relations Theories and Applications
- EDPSY 641: Statistical Methods in Educational and Psychological Research
or, SOC 682: Social Statistics
Third Semester (Fall)
- PR 662: Public Relations Case Studies
- PR 665: Public Relations Campaigns
- Elective from a field of your choice, depending on your career interests
Fourth Semester (Spring)
- PR 605: Public Relations Management
- PR 664: Public Relations Evaluation Techniques
Research requirement
You can meet this requirement after you have completed 15 hours of your degree program. You have one of two options for completing these 3-6 hours:

- CRPRJ 698: Creative Project (3-6)
