Careers in this Field

It’s hard to make a list of career options that await those who earn a master of business administration (MBA) or graduate certificate in business, because they are so varied. For example, if you’ve earned the certificate, it may be because you already were in a career such as journalism or nursing, and you want to stay in that field but move a few rungs up the ladder.

With an MBA, possibilities are many, depending on which areas are your specialty. Here are just some of them:

  • banking
  • financial services
  • sales
  • accounting
  • advertising
  • customer service

Among the many job classifications to which this education can lead is that of administrative services manager, which according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics can provide attractive pay and benefits. The median annual pay for administrative services managers in 2006 was $67,690. The top 10 percent earned up to an average of $117,610.
