Increasing the Odds Wins Emmy
Increasing the Odds, a spring 2009 student-produced documentary at the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry, won a regional Emmy for best photography at the Lower Great Lakes Emmy ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio. The film about business startups was a student project supervised by Virginia Ball Fellow Cecil Bohanon, professor of economics. The Emmy-winning students included Kimberly Lytle, Nathan Bilbrey, Chase Stewart, Clint Zaayer, Rob Kramig, Zach Loch, and Colleen Walker.
The film also garnered nominations for best informational/instructional special and for best writing within the professional category. The team competed with telecommunications professionals from throughout the Great Lakes region. The film has aired on more than 18 public television stations nationwide to a potential audience of more than 20 million viewers. The Emmy Awards were presented in June.
