Admission Policy for Graduate Study

 

The following admission policy pertains to the MBA program:

  • Students are considered for admission if they have a minimum of a 2.75 GPA, at least a 450 GMAT, a total composite of 1,100 from both (GPA x 200 + GMAT score) and an Analytical Writing Assessment score of 3.0 or above.
  • Nonetheless, meeting the minimum alone does not guarantee admission into the graduate programs. Students not meeting the minimum requirements are denied admission.
  • Students who dispute an admission decision must write an appeal letter addressed to the director of MBA in the Miller College of Business who presents the appeal to the Executive Committee for their consideration and action.
  • If the appeal is denied, no further action is allowed.
  • If the appeal is accepted, students are admitted conditionally.
    • Students admitted conditionally are permitted to take 9 credit hours of graduate level business courses. Graduate business courses are defined as any 500-600 level business course needed for the student's program. After the 9 hours of course work is completed, the student is reevaluated
    • A student with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA after 9 hours of Core Courses (600 level) are completed, is granted full admission
    • A student with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA after 9 hours of foundation courses (500 level) or a combination of foundation courses and Core Courses (600 level) are completed, is granted full admission
    • Students granted conditional admission who fail to meet the required GPA are denied full admission
    • No further exceptions are granted for students not attaining the required GPA after 9 hours of course work are completed.
  • Applicants who hold an earned degrees such as; JD, MD, PharmD, Ph.D, and Ed.D from an accredited university in the United States will have the GMAT requirement waived.
  • The Miller College of Business also accepts GRE test score for admission into MBA or Master in accounting programs.
