Teaching Through the School of Continuing Education and Public Service

This policy is designed to govern the offering of College of Business courses through the School of Continuing Education and Public Service with payment made to the individual faculty member by the School of Continuing Education and Public Service.
The following provisions apply:
  1. Departmental independent study courses will not be offered through the School of Continuing Education and Public Service.  These courses are part of a department's mission, and the responsibility for directing the independent study students should be rotated through the faculty by the  department chairperson after considering the subject  matter involved and the expertise of the faculty.  Current independent study courses in the College of Business are ECON 492, ECON 592, FIN 497, FIN 697, INS 497, INS 597, BL 497, BL 597, MGT 497, MGT 697, MKG 497, and MKG 597.
  2. 2.Payment under this policy applies only to the following courses:
    1. Departmental internship courses.
    2. Summer school courses that have below the minimum number of students to qualify to be offered as a regular class.  The faculty member involved must be teaching less than a full load of courses.
  3. Deans and department chairpersons are not eligible for this program.
  4. Faculty will be compensated as follows:
    1. Academic year: 85% of tuition with a maximum of $2,000 per semester.
    2. Summer: 85% of tuition with a maximum of 7.5% of academic year salary.
  5. All faculty appointments under this policy must be approved by the appropriate department chairperson, the Dean of the College of Business, and the Dean of the School of Continuing Education and Public Service.
