Program Features

An economics major is perfect for students who are interested in business and in liberal arts. If you are mainly interested in business, consider majoring in economics with a business or financial analyst option. If you are mainly interested in liberal arts, consider majoring in economics with the liberal arts option.

An economics major is also good for double-majors. Any liberal arts major, such as a political science major or other majors in social science, should think about a double-major with economics as the second major. Mathematical science and actuarial science majors should look into an interdepartmental major in mathematical economics.

Economics courses provide you with knowledge and analytic skills that help you achieve professional success, meet your personal and financial objectives, and make a difference as an informed citizen. It is an excellent entrée into careers in government and academics, and many consider it to be the best degree to prepare for law school and a master of business administration (MBA).

At Ball State, we provide hands-on learning opportunities such as the Fed Challenge, which our 2007 team finished in the final four. You can also take advantage of Miller College of Business internships and see firsthand how businesses work.

And our Freshman Connections living-learning communities provide you with a supportive environment.
