The Miller College of Business at Ball State University is proud to host an annual information systems competition on the Ball State University campus in Muncie, IN, where students in information systems, management information systems, information technology, software engineering, and computer science are invited to present and showcase their past information systems projects, as well as participate in a live case analysis. The competition culminates with the presentation of awards in the following categories:

  • Top Three Overall
  • Project Competition
    • Top Three Projects
    • Top Three Presentations
  • Case Competition
    • Top Three Solutions

Cost of Participation

Participation in the competition is free of charge for participating students and supervisors. Ball State University will provide most of the meals and snacks during the competition, but the participants or a sponsoring organization are responsible for travel and hotel accommodations.

Program Highlights

This competition serves as a venue for students to showcase projects that were completed earlier in their undergraduate careers as well as to utilize skills previously learned by solving a case study. The competition consists of 15-16 teams, each consisting of a maximum of six undergraduate students and a team coach or faculty advisor.

Students will submit a two-page write-up detailing their project prior to the competition. During the first part of the competition, students showcase their projects in the form of a poster or demonstration. Students then present their projects to a panel of judges. The second part of the competition is a case analysis. Students are provided a case to analyze and provide a solution for, and then present their solutions to a panel of judges.

Awards are presented to the top three overall projects across many categories. Participating in the competition provides an opportunity to get valuable feedback on student projects. All participants receive a certificate for participating. Most meals and snacks will be provided during the competition by Ball State.
