Recognitions

The Miller College of Business is accredited by AACSB, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and was the first state-supported institution in Indiana to hold separate AACSB accreditation for the accounting program.



Ball State's chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma was recognized in 2007 as a premier chapter by the national organization, the honor society for AACSB International–The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.



Entrepreneurship


  • Ball State is ranked 20th in an analysis of the nation's top undergraduate entrepreneurship programs by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review.
  • For the sixth consecutive year, Ball State's undergraduate entrepreneurship program is ranked among the nation's top 10 programs by U.S. News & World Report and has been described as the "ultimate entrepreneurial experience."
  • Fortune Small Business magazine in 2007 placed Ball State's undergraduate entrepreneurship program among the nation's top 25.
  • The graduate entrepreneurship program is ranked 26th in U.S. News & World Report's 2007 rankings of top graduate programs offered by business schools.
  • Women 3.0 magazine in 2008 listed Ball State's master of business administration (MBA) program in entrepreneurship as one of the country's top 50.

Information Systems


  • In 2006, a team of Ball State students won first place in the International Business Informatics Challenge in Dublin, Ireland, for a collaborative project based on designing a new network for the Indianapolis airport. The same subject also took first place in an Indiana Homeland Security competition.
  • Students in information systems have built a powerful cluster computer and have used it to test complex software for the U.S. Department of Defense and to regularly work with area businesses.
  • A state-of-the-art networking lab teaches students how to protect computer networks and other information systems from cyber-attacks. The lab features the latest equipment, providing a technologically advanced setting for students to manage all types of networks.

Finance

  • The finance program was ranked 11th nationally for quality teaching in an independent study published in the spring 2006 issue of Advances in Financial Education.
  • Ball State's chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary organization for financial information students and professionals, was awarded a superior chapter designation for the 16th consecutive year in 2006.

Insurance and Risk Management

  • Ball State's insurance, risk management, and actuarial science academic fraternity earned three national awards in 2007 at the Gamma Iota Sigma International Leadership Conference for chapter management, membership development, and public relations.
  • The risk management and insurance program is one of fewer than five dozen in accredited business schools in the United States.
  • The college's program in risk management, insurance, and actuarial science is a collaborative effort with the College of Sciences and Humanities that provides opportunities for research and interaction with industry.

  • 2007 was the third consecutive year, Ball State marketing students placed in the top 25 of the Business Strategy Game. Ball State's two teams were among 2,656 teams. The Ball State teams ranked 15th and 16th in overall performance.

Sales

  • The H.H. Gregg Center for Professional Selling is one of just nine such programs in the nation and has been recognized by the Professional Society for Sales and Marketing Training (SMT) for its high educational standards.
  • The H.H. Gregg Center for Professional Selling's annual Sales Career Fair is one of the largest of its kind in the country.
