Launched in fall 2008, the Miller College Honors Program was developed through the generous estate gift of alumnus Wally Miller, for which our college is named. Miller College Honors Program students exemplify strong academic drive, professionalism, motivation, leadership, and ethical and moral character.
The Miller College Honors Program welcomes a select group of freshmen each year (including Miller Scholars) and encompasses all four years of study. This curricular-based developmental program is offered only to our highest achieving and motivated freshmen. The specialized curriculum allows you to take classes with other students like yourself in a small and enriched environment. The courses are filled with more discussion, more real-world cases, and more hands-on learning.

Benefits
- Recognition—acknowledgment of academic excellence on the official university transcript and at the college-level May Commencement ceremony
- Acceleration—direct admission to Miller College and early entrance to upper-division, major-specific courses
- Dedicated faculty—professors who are genuinely concerned about students’ success and well-being
- Network development—opportunity to connect and bond with successful peers, corporate partners, and academic leaders
- Support—encouragement of devoted staff comprised of academic and professional staff dedicated to collaborating with high-achieving business students
Program Components
The program has two primary areas of focus: a specialized curriculum and out-of-class programming. As each freshmen class consists of only 20-30 students, the environment provides a supportive group of peers, along with personal attention from dedicated faculty and staff.
Developmental programming focuses on four areas and has provided the following experiences:
- Professional development—etiquette dinner, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing
- Academic development—personalized academic advising, film discussions, graduate school preparation, and introduction to national and international post-graduate scholarships
- Networking—company visits to such places as the headquarters of Corbett Accel Healthcare, Formula Boats, and Build-A-Bear; and personal interactions with corporate executives, such as Angela Ahrendts, CEO of Burberry
- Social interactions—student-developed events like wallyball and laser tag
Requirements of Miller Honors
-
maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA
-
complete the specialized curriculum
-

Application Process
Overall, we are looking for not only high academic-achieving students, but also motivated students who are interested in a challenging opportunity with personal attention. For greater insight into what we look for in applicants, check out the characteristics of current Honors Program students. Honors Program applications are due March 30.
The university's Honors College at Ball State requires a separate application process. The Miller College of Business promotes student participation in both the university Honors College and the Miller Honors Programs.
