The Ball State Symphony Orchestra is an exciting all-student orchestra that plays an important role in the lives of its members, the School of Music, and the university. Both undergraduate and graduate students play in the BSSO. Members are music majors, minors, and nonmajors.
The orchestra performs music from all genres and time periods that support an intense and relevant orchestral program through symphonic and opera experiences. The ensemble strives to move at a professional pace in rehearsal and achieve the highest possible level of performance.
Some of the highly advanced BSSO members are offered the opportunity to play in the
Muncie Symphony Orchestra, a local professional orchestra consisting of members from the School of Music faculty and professional musicians from the east central Indiana area.
Any student musician who would like to participate in the BSSO may audition at the beginning of the first semester of each school year.
