Sigma Theta Tau International Membership

  • Beta Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) inducts new members one time each year.
  • STTI has 125,000 active members worldwide.
  • Membership is by invitation to: 
    • Baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship 
    • Nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing 

Beta Rho Chapter has 302 active members (April 2011)

  • Membership Eligibility: Baccalaureate Nursing Students
  • Achievement of excellence according to standards approved by Sigma Theta Tau
  • Completion of at least one-half of the required nursing curriculum
  • Rank in highest 35 percent of class in overall GPA
  • Overall GPA of at least 3.0
  • Academic integrity
  • Leadership potential

Membership Eligibility: Graduate Nursing Students 

  • Achievement of excellence according to standards approved by Sigma Theta Tau
  • Completion of at least one-fourth of program of study 
  • GPA of at least 3.5 
  • Academic integrity 
  • Leadership potential

Membership Eligibility: Nurse Leaders 

  • Registered Nurse with a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing or other field
  • Demonstrated achievement in nursing
  • Examples of achievement:
  • Innovation in clinical practice
  • Leadership in improving health care
  • Entrepreneurial skills
  • Mentoring
  • Teaching
  • Administration
