BSU's Exercise Science program is top notch when it comes to teaching and applying skills needed to become successful in this field of study.

I had originally enrolled as a marketing major at Ball State. After spending some time on campus and learning more about the Exercise Science Program, I realized that I could combine my interests by adding an Exercise Science major to my curriculum and create a career path that would help me achieve my goal of starting my own business. Now, ten years later, our company has grown to a level in which we now own and operate multiple facilities in the Indianapolis area. I attribute much of my success to the education and support that I received from the program and faculty at Ball State University.

Fitness and health take up much of our nation's attention, a major in exercise science ties together the studies of anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, nutrition and exercise which is a great way to get into the job market for those whose goal is to promote health through exercise. A degree in exercise science opens the door to professional opportunities in fitness training. The applied science track is great for those going into field such as sports medicine, physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy or exercise physiology.

I have been working in the YMCA for six years. The practicum experience that I received through the Exercise Science program gave me insight to the industry. Some of the points I learned as a practicum student I use on a daily basis. I would recommend to current students to absorb as much information now because once they start working it is difficult to find the time to explore new and different thoughts regarding exercise. As for my case I have had to learn a great deal by experience on the business side.

Being a graduate of the Exercise Science program I truly believe in the program. It is a program that develops a well rounded exercise leader and enables students to learn the tools necessary to become successful in the health and fitness industry. The student interns that I have worked with have had a great beginning with their Ball State undergraduate education. I have hired two of the three students who have interned at my site, and the two hires are far and away two of my best and most productive employees.

The Exercise Science program at Ball State takes young students and develops them into young professionals who are ready for real world situations. The hands on experiences you get while using all the most up to date technology and equipment, prepare you for a future of excellence in this field. The professors in the Exercise Science program at Ball State are second to none. Their experiences and knowledge in the field is recognized all over the world. However, it's their willingness to develop each and every student to be the best; that separates them from the rest.
