U.S. Citizens Minimum Admission Requirements
1. BS/BA degree in physics or astronomy or related field. 2. Minimum cumulative GPA 2.75/4.00 3. Graduate Record Exam General Exam taken. (No minimum scores adopted.)
Application Materials and Procedures
1. Meet the Graduate School’s minimum requirements for admission. (Students with GPAs slightly below the minimum are sometimes admitted on probation. Such students are not considered for assistantships.) 2. Complete an online application form. 3. Pay the application fee of $50 to the Office of the Bursar. 4. Send copies of official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended to the Graduate School. 5. Have ETS send your general Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score to the Graduate School (Institution code = 1051). Physics subject GRE not required. 6. For assistantship consideration only: Have three letters of recommendation sent on your behalf from faculty familiar with your academic performance and potential for success in advanced studies in physics to the department chairperson. E-letters accepted. |
International Students Minimum Admission Requirements
1. BS/BA degree or equivalent in physics or astronomy or related field. 2. Minimum cumulative GPA 2.75/4.00 3. TOEFL minimum score of 550 or equivalent. (TOEFL institution code = 1051)
Application Materials and Procedures
1. Apply online through the Rinker Center for International Programs. 2. Pay the application fee of $55 U.S. to the Office of the Bursar.
After your application is cleared by the Rinker Center, it will be forwarded to the Graduate School. When the Graduate School has cleared your application, it will be forwarded to the department for consideration. Do not send any materials directly to the department.
