Required Courses
Students with strong interest in astronomy or having astronomy-related career aspirations are encouraged to complete the astronomy minor.
The minor includes:
- a year of calculus
- a year of calculus-based physics
- a two-semester Introduction to astronomy and astrophysics course sequence
The program provides a strong background in the basic physics and astronomy principles necessary for success in the field.
Courses required to complete the astronomy minor (24 hours):
*Calculus 1 and 2 (MATH 165, 166) provide better preparation for this minor and open avenues for other science majors and minors. They may be substituted for Applied Calculus 1 and 2 (MATH 161, 162), respectively.
