If you are thinking about running for a political office, running a nonprofit organization or attending a law school you should consider a political science degree.

In the Department of Political Science, you can earn a bachelor’s degreemaster’s degree, or complement another major with one of our minors. When you study political science you will cover such topics as public policy, international studies, legal studies, and American political institutions, all taught by faculty who are involved in research and the community as well as devoted to the classroom.

In addition to regular course work, you can find activities that can enhance your education by participating in student organizationsstudy abroad programs, and internships. Not only do these out-of-classrooms experiences give you a competitive edge when you are job hunting, but they can also help you build lasting professional and personal networks and be a lot of fun.

And after graduation, you will be prepared to work in a number of fields in government as well as in nongovernment positions.
