As an alumnus you can support our programs in many ways, such as
Giving a class lecture--we invite professionals from various settings to speak to our students each semester. We believe that current students especially benefit from hearing from our alumni.
Providing an internship site--graduate students must complete clinical hours in multiple settings. Each semester we place more than 40 students in clinical sites in Indiana and across the United States. We prefer that student-intern supervisors have ASHA CCCs, have at least three years of experience, and hold the appropriate state licensure for the supervisor's work setting.
Allowing a student to job shadow--for students who want to find out "what it's really like" in their discipline or are unsure about the discipline as a career, spending the day with a professional can be very useful.
Talking to prospective students--students considering earning a graduate degree in either specialty may find it helpful to talk to someone who "survived" the experience. Honest opinions from our graduates can help students choose the program that is the best fit.
If you are willing and able to support our department in any of these ways or others, contact Mary Jo Germani, department chairperson.
