Professor of Sociology
Jun Xu joined the Department of Sociology at Ball State in 2006 after receiving a PhD degree in sociology from Indiana University-Bloomington. His research and teaching interests include health (international health, occupational health, and health disparities), race and ethnicity (attitudes toward and civic engagement of Asian Americans), sociology of education (comparative education, minority education, and cultural capital), social psychology (group processes and inter-group relations) and applied statistics (statistical modeling and programming). He regularly collaborates with other scholars in related fields and enjoys working with students on their research projects at both undergraduate and graduate levels. When not at work, Jun loves hiking, running, swimming, and playing and following hoops with his family.
