How to Apply

Deadline: Application materials are evaluated twice yearly, in the spring and summer. All application materials must be received by the department by February 1 or June 15. Applications to the rehabilitation track are evaluated as soon as they are completed.

You must submit separate application materials to the Graduate School and the Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services. The programs offered by the department are selective-admissions programs and require additional application materials.

Application materials may be submitted to both offices at the same time. The Graduate School must complete its admission process before the department may offer admission. Admission to the Graduate School does not guarantee admission into the program.

How to Apply to the Graduate School

Detailed information on how to apply to the Graduate School is available on their Web site.

Materials Required by the Department

  • A completed Master's Program Application (available here as a PDF)
  • Three letters of recommendation. These are included in the Graduate School online application (there is no need to send hard copies to the department). Candidates applying for admission to the social psychology programs should arrange for at least two of their letters to come from former professors.
  • Scores on the GRE General Test (sent directly from GRE Testing Service).  We look for a minimum of 144 for the quantitative section, and 153 on the verbal section.

How to Apply to the Office of International Admissions

International candidates should obtain an application from the Office of International Admissions. Applicants must complete all application materials required by the Office of International Admissions and submit these materials directly to the Office of International Admission. Applicants should allow sufficient time (two months) before the departmental deadlines of February 1 or June 15 for the Office of International Admissions to process the application and determine eligibility for admission.
