Master of Arts in Counseling

The master’s programs within the Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services are designed for students who want to apply their education in real-world settings. Our students and alumni work in schools, counseling centers, agencies, and academic and organizational institutions to provide services for clients. We work on improving the quality of life for those we serve.

An intensive, supervised internship is required, providing real-life work experience in the application of basic psychotherapeutic procedures and evaluation techniques in an approved and appropriate setting. To supplement your graduate study, you are also encouraged to hold student membership in the American Counseling Association (ACA)  or the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).

The Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services offers three program options for the MA in counseling and a dual major in Social Psychology and Counseling.

Program Options:

  • Clinical Mental Health Counseling Track
  • School Counseling Track
  • Rehabilitation Counseling Track
  • Dual Major in Social Psychology and Counseling
